Daily janitorial service is what most facility managers mean when they say “cleaning.” It is the recurring scope that runs every night (or every morning, or three times a week) and keeps a building from slowly sliding out of standard between deep cleans.

What a daily janitorial scope covers
A typical office scope includes all of the following. Yours is written specifically for your building, so items get added, dropped or moved to a different frequency as the walkthrough dictates.
- Restroom cleaning, sanitizing and consumable restocking
- Breakroom, kitchen and common area care
- Trash and recycling collection and removal to the dock or compactor
- Dusting of horizontal surfaces, sills, ledges and vents
- Vacuuming of carpet and mats; dust mopping and damp mopping of hard floors
- High-touch surface sanitizing — door handles, push plates, light switches, elevator buttons, shared equipment
- Entryway and glass door spot cleaning
- Conference room reset and wipe-down
How we set your frequency
Frequency is the single biggest driver of both cleanliness and cost, and it is the thing most often set wrong. Restrooms and trash are almost always daily, because those are what occupants notice within hours. Floors, dusting and detail work can often run on a lighter rotation without anyone perceiving a drop in standard.
Splitting the scope this way — daily for the visible and sanitary items, two or three times a week for the rest — is usually how a program fits a tighter budget without cutting the things people actually see.
- Standard offices, low to moderate traffic: daily restroom and trash service, 2–3x per week on floors and surfaces.
- Medical, dental and clinical space: daily disinfection of clinical and high-touch surfaces, frequently more than once per shift.
- Schools and government buildings: daily service, with added disinfection during flu season or after occupancy spikes.
- High-traffic lobbies and retail: daily floor care plus a day porter during business hours.
